Zain Sudan and Telenor have entered into a global connectivity agreement that will enable Zain Sudan to provide LTE roaming services.

“We have a long-standing and important relationship with Telenor. Their extensive 4G coverage combined with their experience of LTE deployment is of significant importance to provide all our roaming customers with the desired roaming experience” said Osama Kahin, COO, Zain Sudan. “Partnering with leading LTE companies such as Telenor, helps us to be the pioneer in launching LTE roaming in the country and we see that we often are the first choice for Sudanese business men and tourists.”

Under the terms of this agreement, Zain Sudan can now offer global 4G coverage delivering high-speed data roaming to its visitors and subscribers.

“We are delighted to have strengthened our relationship with Zain Sudan and that this agreement will ensure consistent user experience for both companies’ subscribers at all times”, added Harald Krohg, CEO of global wholesale at Telenor. “Speed and quality will be even more important in the years to come and Zain Sudan’s roamers now enjoy the same superior experience as they do at home. We are looking forward to explore new services together with Zain Sudan.”

Earlier this month, Zain Bahrain joined the Middle East – Europe Terrestrial System (MEETS), an international cable that provides high bandwidth regional connectivity solutions.

By joining MEETS, Zain Bahrain will offer enhanced products to meet the increasing demand for high-speed and reliable connectivity throughout the Kingdom, particularly amongst the booming enterprise sector. The company has hailed it as “a major regional telecommunication development for the Kingdom of Bahrain” as it drives towards making the Kingdom a major hub for ICT and data movement in the MENA region.
