Mokhles will enter the newly created position effective immediately, and will help to drive operational excellence across the group’s 13 countries of operation. Thereby creating value for its shareholders and delivering new economies of scale.

Mokhles enters the role with over 20 years of experience in the ICT sector having worked for some of the largest telecoms companies in the Middle East and Africa, including Orascom, Etisalat, Ooredoo and Airtel Africa.
“Ahmad is uniquely qualified to oversee the group’s operations as we expand further across Africa,” said Nic Rudnick, group chief executive officer of Liquid Telecom. “He brings exceptional experience to the role and will help guide the company through our next phase of growth and innovation”.
Before joining Liquid Telecom, Ahmad served as chief operating officer for Airtel Nigeria. Prior to that he served as executive vice president of consumer and digital business at du, where he was responsible for the company’s smart city business. In addition, Mokhles served as chief commercial officer for Asiacell Iraq, part of Ooredoo group.
Earlier this week, Liquid Telecom partnered Telecom Egypt complete its ‘Cape to Cairo’ fibre network. Under the terms of the agreement, Liquid will link its network in Sudan into Telecom Egypt’s network through a new cross border interconnect, creating a 60,000km network running the length of the continent.
