Epsilon partners DCConnect for two-way inter-carrier SDN network orchestration

Epsilon has teamed with Chinese on-demand connectivity provider DCConnect to interconnect software-defined networking and offer two-way inter-carrier SDN network orchestration.

The partnership marks the first time two SDN platforms have been interconnected through a bi-lateral API integration. It means DCConnect, which offers on-demand connectivity to data centres and cloud service providers, can offer customers in China access to Epsilon’s Global Interconnect Fabric through its SD-Cloud Express platform.

Epsilon’s global network consists of more than 100 points of presence in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America, supporting more than 600 service providers, CSPs, and internet exchanges.

“Our partnership demonstrates two-way network orchestration and how real-time inter-carrier automation can work in an active environment. It is a major milestone for the networking market in China and across the globe,” said Jerzy Szlosarek, CEO at Epsilon.

“We expand DCConnect’s on-demand connectivity seamlessly across the world while gaining rapid access to major cities and Cloud Service Provider on-ramps in China. This is the future of SDN and it is happening now through our partnership with DCConnect.”

DCConnect was founded in 2016 and implemented an independent SDN mesh architecture network in China. It operates over 90 PoPs in China and provides access to over 300 PoPs worldwide through a number of partners.

By partnering with DCConnect, Epsilon can offer its global customer base interconnections in major Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen through its Infiny by Epsilon platform.

The full service, which will be available from both companies through each one’s respective web-based portal (Infiny by Epsilon and DCConnect’s SD-Cloud Express) in Q3 2018.

Mark Smith, managing director at DCConnect said, “We are delighted to partner with Epsilon to provide our China customers access to fast, flexible and intelligent SDN services across the globe. They can instantly connect across both our SDN platforms seamlessly with a single user experience.

“The Infiny platform aligns with our vision of facilitating powerful networking solutions that are both scalable and agile. This partnership is driving the networking market forward and shows new possibilities for SDN.”

It is the latest partnership announced by Epsilon in the Asia Pacific region. Earlier this week, it unveiled an agreement with the internet exchange arm of SoftBank, BBIX, to offer on-demand connectivity in Japan. Epsilon also recently added on-demand access to cloud connectivity using Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute in Singapore.
