Deutsche Telekom offers bundled packages to promote IoT

Deutsche Telekom is aiming to speed up the adoption of the internet of things (IoT) by offering customers a bundled service.

The company says it believes small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would especially benefit from this approach.

“One in five SME companies would like to have all-around, care-free packages to deploy IoT solutions for their business,” says the company, quoting an IDC survey of the German market.

It is working with Software AG and its so-called “Cloud of Things” platform on the project. The first end-to-end solutions under the programme are asset tracking and industrial machine monitoring. More bundles for a variety of industries and use cases will follow, says Deutsche Telekom.

The asset tracking bundle is, says the company, a “secure, robust solution [that] lets you localise important assets and machines at any time, avoiding delays and unnecessary, expensive replacements of misplaced assets”. It can trigger an alert in case of theft.

The industrial machine monitoring solution lets companies automate the monitoring of their machinery, giving them reliable, real-time information about their current status.
