The Austrian operator announced Schramböck’s tendered her resignation on 16 October, just 18 months after joining from Dimension Data Austria, where she was managing director. She’d joined Dimension Data when it closed its acquisition of NextiraOne in 2014, and has also held roles working for Alcatel Lucent.
Alejandro Plater, chairman of the A1 Supervisory Boards, said: "Margarete has significantly contributed to the success of our company and has together with me and the leadership team founded the basis for the further transformation of the Group.
“With her digital knowledge and her leadership skills she was an important member of our leadership team. We thank her and wish her all the best for her future.”
A1 said it will now look to appoint a successor, with chief technology officer Marcus Grausam set to take over Schramböck’s responsibilities on an in interim basis alongside his current responsibilities.
Reports from Austria had recently claimed Schramböck was locked in a power struggle with Plater, who heads up group operations, partially around the creation of subsidiary A1 Digital earlier this year, a business transformation arm with an international focus.
Her departure comes as Telekom Austria is looking to rollout its A1 branding across the rest of its European operations.
