The agreement with Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will see the two countries cooperating over telecoms and broadcasting. This could also involve exploring possible joint ventures, according to a report from the Bangkok Post.
NBTC chairman ACM Thares Punsri, who made the announcement, said Thailand and Japan's MIC are exploring the possibility of exchanging technical knowledge, programmes and the opportunity to launch joint ventures together in the sector.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhutan’s InfoComm and Media Authority will see the Thai regulator offer its knowledge of ICT regulations and policy development.
Both MoU’s were finalised at the ITU Telecom World Forum 2016, which is being held Bangkok this week.
The partnership with Japan follows discussions over a potential reduction on roaming fees between the two countries. Talks were held last year, the Post says.
