The joint solution is a continuity service that reroutes critical traffic through the best available path when it detects anomalies on the network.
It combines C-band capacity on the Eutelsat 8 West B satellite with BICS’ teleport in La Ciotat, France, its IP global network and the automated on-demand solution for IP traffic.
BICS’ international network includes direct connections to 100 countries, capacity on 70 submarine cables with 200 landing points, participation in the Intelsatand Eutelsatsatellite systems, and 270 bilateral agreements with other operators
“BICS is dedicated to supporting customers across the African continent, particularly the 30% of countries that are landlocked and often depend on poor terrestrial connectivity”, said BICS VP of capacity business unit, operations and customer service, Johan Wouters.
“In countries with limited access to submarine cables, which are often prone to damage or incidents, RouteFlex can also change the way operators use satellite to back up their services.”
It is the latest news from Africa from Eutelsat, which recently announced acapacity agreement that will see it gain access to up to 16 high performance commercial Ka-band spotbeams on Yahsat’s 1B satellite.
