Interoute launches VDC cloud zone in Stockholm

Interoute has opened a new virtual data centre (VDC) in Stockholm, Sweden, to support the growing demand for fast local cloud services from enterprises in the Nordics.

The latest cloud platform expansion represents Interoute’s 17th VDC zone globally and its third VDC launch in 2016, following rollouts in Istanbul and Singapore earlier this year. Interoute customers can transfer data for free between VDC zones.

VDC is a high-performance enterprise cloud platform built straight into its private global network, which can be easily controlled via its online interface or API.

“Cloud is a key driver for digital transformation and digital enterprise growth,” said Matthew Finnie, Interoute’s CTO. “Interoute is the first global cloud provider to offer a zone in the Nordic region that offers both public and private cloud on one platform. By opting to provision on the Interoute cloud customers have a foundation to transform their businesses.”

Björn Nilson, IT manager at Gunnebo, an Interoute VDC customer, said: “Gunnebo serves the financial services and retail markets, which are among the most highly regulated industries; security breaches and downtime for organisations operating in these industries can be disastrous. We wanted to extend our security services to meet increased demand, but without having to invest in our own physical hardware infrastructure. Interoute VDC is the perfect solution for us, delivering fully automated, on-demand computing with the proven levels of security, reliability and scalability that our customers demand.”
