Altice considers sale of SFR Belgium

Altice is reportedly considering selling its Belgian business in a move to narrow its focus

According to the Financial Times, the company is working with financial advisory and asset management firm Lazard on the potential sale of SFR Belgium, with the assets valued up to €500 million.

Altice acquired Coditel Brabant in 2003 for €82 million and rebranded it to SFR Belgium shortly after.

Altice lost out to rival Liberty Global last year in a €1.3 billion bidding war to acquire Base, Belgium’s third largest mobile operator. Over the last two years, Altice has acquired Portugal Telecom, SuddenLink in the US and SFR in France.

Last month Altice promoted its then COO Michel Combes to CEO in a management shuffle which saw Dexter Goei appointed CEO of Altice’s US business and president of Altice.
