ETSI signs MoU with Eurosmart for 5G security

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Eurosmart to enhance the security robustness of 5G networks.

The MoU with the Brussels-based industry association of global technology providers was signed at ETSI’s 67th general assembly yesterday. The association will look into the best ways to secure content, support the deployment of certified and standardised solutions that integrate security and privacy by design features.

“Eurosmart is proud to sign a cooperation agreement with ETSI and work closely with their stakeholders, as some of our key applications for Secure Element are relying on ETSI standards,” said Eurosmart’s president Timothée Mangenot.

“These include digital signatures, 2G, 3G, 4G, cybersecurity, single wire protocol used in NFC architecture or cryptographic algorithms for telecommunication.”

Both organisations acknowledge ETSI’s important role in the EU’s ICT standardisation rollout and digital single market plan and have partnered to develop collaborative activities as a result.
