Ukrtelecom beats regulator in licence court battle

Urktelecom has won a court case over the Ukrainian regulator for the right to extend its existing local telephony operating licence for another five years.

The Ukrainian operator won the court battle after the Kiev Administrative Court of Appeal overturned a ruling from the National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications & Informatization (NCCIR) which had insisted that the telco pay for a new licence on the grounds that the existing concession was issued under outdated regulatory terms.

The fixed local access licence will be renewed from April 3, 2016, according to BizLiga reports.
