NL-ix launches PoP with TelecityGroup in Poland

The Neutral Internet Exchange (NL-ix) has teamed up with TelecityGroup for the launch of a PoP in TelecityGroup’s Warsaw1 data centre in Poland.

The agreement will enable customers of the facility to exchange internet traffic with the 530 customers across NL-ix’s European network spanning 11 countries.

“Traditional internet exchanges focus on one of the major metropolitan areas like Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam and Paris, however NL-ix wants to enable its members to peer and exchange internet traffic European-wise against a flat rate per port and TelecityGroup’s Warsaw1 data centre is a strategic choice for these reasons,” said Jan Hoogenboom, CEO at NL-ix.

NL-ix notes the growing demands from Polish and Eastern European networks as the driver behind its expansion and hopes the PoP to be a catalyst for further growth.

“NL-ix already has a presence in TelecityGroup data centres in the UK, France and Amsterdam (AMS1 through 5) and now with the addition of Poland, this new PoP takes our partnership another step further,” said Sylwester Biernacki, country manager at TelecityGroup Poland.

“The NL-ix new PoP will enable further customer growth and we look forward to enhancing its excellent member network from our Warsaw1 data centre.”

The Warsaw PoP is the latest in a string of launches for NL-ix which added 12 PoPs to its European network earlier this month
