Brightstar appoints EMEA president

Service provider Brightstar has appointed Benoit Scheen as president of its operations in Europe, the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

Scheen’s role is effective immediately and he will report directly into president and CEO Jaymin Patel.

He will be responsible for all of Brightstar’s activity in EMEA – where it serves mobile operators, enterprise customers, device manufacturers and retailers – as well as the growth and integration of mobile distribution and services.

Prior to the new role, Scheen served as EVP of Europe for Orange for three years and was also a member of the executive committee for the Orange Group, responsible for its subsidiaries across Europe, excluding France.

“Benoit brings a wealth of experience in technology and telecoms, ranging from leading mature, international companies to launching start-ups in the mobile market,” Patel said.

“His entrepreneurial spirit is well-aligned with our way of doing things and his know-how is a great match for our business partners.”

Scheen also served as CEO at Mobistar for four years, and is also a board member for Scandinavian entertainment group TDC and Belgian ISP Evonet.
