French IoT startup Sigfox raises $115 million

French technology startup Sigfox has raised $115 million (€100 million) to build its networks across Europe, the US and Asia.

Investors include Telefónica, SK Telecom, NTT, GDF Suez, Air Liquide, Eutelsat and Elliott Management. This is the company’s third investment round since it was founded in 2010

Sigfox, an operator of low-energy, low cost mobile networks dedicated to IoT, has already built out its network in France, Spain, the Netherlands and the UK. The proceeds raised will finance its global network roll-out in Europe, Asia and the Americas.

“This record $115 million round is a significant step in the development of our network’s coverage all around the world. The trust of our investors and the dynamism of Sigfox’s team allow us to strengthen our position as the world leader in IoT communications,” said Anne Lauvergeon, Sigfox’s chairman.
