Huawei says cloud contributed to high 2014 sales growth

Ken Hu, CEO at Chinese vendor Huawei, has said that he believes advances in cloud computing have increased the company’s 2014 sales revenue by 15% to $46 billion.

In a New Year message on the company’s website, Hu added that increased demand for smart devices had also driven Huawei’s growth over the past 12 months.

In August 2014, the vendor opened an innovation centre in Germany, and later in December, Huawei partnered with software solutions provider Red Hat for the global deployment of cloud solutions.

Huawei made a number of significant investments in 2014 – including $4 billion in fixed-line R&D – and has a $70 billion revenue target for 2018.
