Alcatel-Lucent extends mobile backhaul portfolio

Alcatel-Lucent has extended its mobile backhaul portfolio to further support the growth of LTE networks.

The vendor has introduced a mix of new microwave networking devices designed to provide backhaul connectivity to the wider network.

This includes an outdoor microwave packet radio (MPR) networking unit, designed to save power and cost for operators delivering LTE access.

It also has introduced the Microwave Services Switch–Outdoor (MSS-O) to its 9500 Microwave Packet Radio (9500 MPR) portfolio, which is designed to simplify small cell deployment.

“We are continuing to innovate as a company as well as focusing on industry collaboration to help our customers. We want to further our leadership in this space, and by extending our packet microwave portfolio and industry leading mobile backhaul solution we can meet the needs of many more customers,” said Francois Allain, GM of Alcatel-Lucent's wireless transmission business.
