Vodacom Business launches FTTB services in South Africa

Vodacom Business has launched Fibre to the Business (FTTB) services in South Africa.

The company will launch fibre services to provide broadband connectivity of up to 100Mbps to selected business parks in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban.

Businesses of all sizes that operate from the business parks will now have access to high speed and high capacity data connections.

The development is designed to open up a range of services for cost savings, improve efficiencies and increase competition.

“Most people don’t realise it, but underneath every mobile network is a high speed fixed network connecting the base stations,” said Vuyani Jarana, chief officer at Vodacom Business. “We’ve invested billions of Rands in building our fibre optic network, meaning that we now have the critical mass to offer customers across South Africa access to the latest technology including FTTB.”

As part of the roll out plan, the company said it will offer customers the option of installing additional equipment in their premises, which could serve as a mini mobile base station.
