Chunghwa Telecom selects Ericsson for charging solutions

Taiwanese operator Chunghwa Telecom has selected Ericsson as the sole supplier of its online charging and policy control solutions.

Ericsson will integrate an online charging system (OCS), as well as a policy charging rules function (PCRF) on Chunghwa’s network, serving the operator’s existing and LTE subscribers.

“We know from Chunghwa Telecom's longstanding co-operation with Ericsson that we will get the best solution and support the market has to offer for this business-critical function," said Lin Kuo-Feng, president of Chunghwa Telecom’s mobile business group.

The solutions are designed to allow Chunghwa to offer its customers real-time control of their service usage and account balances, as well as enhanced offerings with increased quality of service and better user experience.

“Consumers and enterprises increasingly expect transparency, control and individualisation of their online experience,” said Jan Signell, head of the north east Asia region at Ericsson.

“Delivering on this creates an invaluable competitive advantage for Chunghwa in a rapidly evolving marketplace."

In December last year, Chunghwa selected NSN to roll out LTE infrastructure in Taiwan.
