The three-company alliance will study and grow a server architecture which capitalises on a number of network functionalities, with reliability, scalability and maintainability.
Service providers are expected to use this architecture to develop their own services, and – because the architecture is being established on virtualised hardware – prevent the variety of devices from spreading.
NTT will deliver telecoms carrier requirements and the core technology for the study and Alcatel-Lucent Japan will provide system requirements as well as technologies for server virtualisation.
Fujitsu will manage the systemisation of distributed computing as well as maintenance and operational technology.
The alliance hopes to develop the technology to a point where it becomes a global standard for network architecture.
