Tellabs extends Multimedia Polska optical transport network
Polish cable TV operator Multimedia Polska has selected telecoms equipment vendor Tellabs to extend its optical transport network in the country.
Tellabs has deployed its NanoTM optical transport system on Multimedia Polska’s network in a bid to support the delivery of new services to customers.
Multimedia Polska serves 825,000 customers in Poland with digital TV, video on demand, broadband and mobile services, and hopes the upgrade will allow it address the growing demand for bandwidth.
“Multimedia Polska has a history of launching innovative solutions, upgrading and expanding its networks to enable the roll-out of new technologies,” said Krzysztof Jaskólski, CTO at Multimedia Polska.
“The new Tellabs optical transport network gives us the capacity and reliability we need to expand our services now and in the future.”
In October last year, Tellabs was said to be in talks with Marlin Equity Partners over a potential acquisition.
