iBasis, which is owned entirely by Dutch operator KPN, is using carrier-neutral Epsilon’s infrastructure and support to enhance its network presence in the Asia-Pacific region and extend its IPX footprint .
The additional PoP is also expected to consolidate its existing Singapore PoPs in an effort to serve increased domestic voice and data services customers.
“As we expand our global IPX footprint, Epsilon’s mix of colocation services and local and international connectivity makes it an ideal partner for us,” said Gert-Jan Huizer, SVP product management and marketing at iBasis.
“There is enormous growth potential for our IPX services in Asia-Pac, and our relationship with Epsilon gives us a cost-effective and efficient way to interconnect with our carrier customers.”
The new PoP will be located at Epsilon Global Hubs NTP (Singapore), the company’s carrier-centric facility, which provides deep metro network coverage within Singapore.
“Our approach to collocation is about providing more than just collocation itself. We are there to support network operators of all sizes with the services they need,” added Jerzy Szlosarek, COO at Epsilon.
“Often that can be a mix of managed PoP support as well as local, inter-regional, and global connectivity. This is about having a proven model and using it to do more for our customers efficiently.”
