WIOCC appoints three members to management team

African cable consortium WIOCC has recruited three telecoms industry professionals to its management team in Africa.

Darren Bedford, Martin Mutiiria and Jason Tutty, previously from PCCW, Nokia Siemens Networks and Reliance Globalcom respectively, have joined the company and are charged with promoting and enhancing its network and wholesale connectivity.

“We are seeing increasing demand from businesses for diversity-rich, high-speed international connectivity to and from Africa,” said Chris Wood, CEO at WIOCC.

“We are developing our business development and sales teams in Africa to meet this demand.”

Mutiiria now stands as director of sales, Africa, and will be accountable for WIOCC’s growing customer base, direct and indirect sales, and will also work with WIOCC’s shareholders.

In his position as director of Africa business development, Bedford will be responsible for implementing development strategies and expanding WIOCC’s regional network coverage.

Tutty’s role as network planning and operations director will see him manage WIOCC’s end-to-end connectivity for the company’s carrier customers.

“The skills, experience and contacts that Darren, Martin and Jason bring will be invaluable in helping new and existing customers benefit from WIOCC’s award-winning network,” Wood added.

In August last year, Chris Wood spoke to Capacity about the company’s plans to extend its wholesale presence across the continent.
