Smarter networks for a converging world

International bandwidth is growing at a phenomenal rate today and, with an additional 36% growth expected in 2013*, this is not going to stop anytime soon. This is driven by the rise in machine to machine and 3D services, as well as the explosion of online video and mobile internet. Our world is becoming increasingly networked and data-hungry, confirming today's need to increase the capacity and the performance of networks.

Only carriers have the secure, intelligent and value-added network capabilities to cope with increasing customer demand. Those who maintain robust, efficient networks will continue to be able to manage the overflow of data, thanks to investments in submarine systems, high quality IP networks, and reliable, secure IT. One thing is sure; carriers must continue to work hard to keep a strong connectivity value-proposition in the IP world!

With IP as the enabler of a whole new world of communication services, today's biggest challenge is to ensure the development of next generation services over IPX. The network is the base structure on which a full IP and convergent world will be built, particularly at a time when LTE deployment is intensifying.

Without question, innovation through investment in LTE technology is a key growth driver for carriers. So with smarter, innovative networks, carriers can seize today's converging world at full speed! And it is one of the three axis promoted by the ITW founders’council.
