ChinaCache, a leading Chinese CDN provider has looked to Equinix to increase presence in the Asia-Pacific as a result of increasing internet traffic.
Through Equinix’s International Business Exchange data centre facility in Hong Kong, the upgraded service is designed to allow customers to access ChinaCache’s services in key cities across three major continents; in New York, Paris and Hong Kong.
The agreement expands from China Cache’s presence in eight existing Equinix locations worldwide.
“The internet traffic in the Asia-Pacific region is growing exponentially, carrying with it higher demand for quality content delivery network providers,” said Song Wong, chairman and CEO of ChinaCache. “Our relationship with Equinix is valuable because its vast network choices and premium services guarantee the enhanced network connectivity needed to respond to this demand.”
By 2016 many analysts predict the Chinese market is set to become the largest internet market worldwide, with over 670 million users.
Asia, too, will become the biggest source of web traffic with a 42% market share, and subsequently surpassing North America.
ChinaCache has said it has taken the decision to increase nodes within Equinix’s data centre to leverage to company’s footprint and expand presence beyond Asia-Pacific.
