VoIP telephony service providers are reportedly struggling to meet European requirements and market demand for emergency calling services, and this is deterring enterprises to migrate to VoIP-based services.
Voxbone’s latest service, named VoxOUT, is designed to enable providers of cloud communications, SIP trunking and other enterprise VoIP services for emergency calling.
Initially the service has been rolled out in seven countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Denmark. The company claims VoxOUT is the first wholesale service to support telephone access to emergency services in multiple European countries from a single-based IP interconnection.
It is thought the service will help customers avoid cost and complexity of alternative solutions for providing emergency services, which requires interconnection with local telcos in different countries.
“While wholesale access to emergency services is widely available in North America, this is not common in other countries,” said Voxbone CEO, Rod Ullens.
“This complicates things for US-based cloud communication providers wanting to expand their services internationally. Combined with powerful IP-based communications applications and traditional voice termination services for local calls to regular phone numbers, VoxOUT enables cloud providers to offer communications services that are superior to old-style telephony at all levels.”
Voxbone said it will make VoxOUT available in additional European cities throughout the year.
