Deutsche Telekom signs content partnership with Sky

German operator Deutsche Telekom has struck a content partnership with German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland to show German soccer matches to the operator’s subscriber base.

Deutsche Telekom lost the rights to show soccer matches to Sky in an auction last year, but will now give Sky access to Deutsche Telekom’s Entertain package, which had 1.9 million customers.

The deal is reportedly designed to force Entertain customers to switch to Sky contracts from 2014.

Deutsche Telekom did not reveal how much it is paying for the content service. The agreement runs until mid-2017.
