OMEA expands MVNO partnership with France Telecom

OMEA TELECOM-Virgin Mobile and France Telecom-Orange have signed a full MVNO contract in France.

The contract will allow OMEA to offer its own core network components and interconnection equipment on France Telecom’s network.

Previously OMEA had offered mobile services on the network as a light MVNO using France Telecom’s equipment.

Geoffroy Roux de Bezieux, CEO of OMEA TELECOM-Virgin Mobile, said: “With this new full MVNO contract we strengthen our commercial and technical autonomy. Thus we are going to keep moving the market for the benefit of our customers.”

OMEA is France’s fourth largest mobile operator with more than two million customers across its brands. It is 47.5% owned by Carphone Warehouse Group, 47.5% owned by Virgin Group and 5% owned by Financom. The company has partnered with Orange since 2004.

The full MVNO contract will become operational in a few months.
