NTT America and NTT do Brasil connect in Latin America

NTT America and NTT do Brasil, two wholly-owned subsidiaries of NTT Communications, have announced a joint agreement to expand the reach of its Tier 1 global network by launching a PoP in São Paulo.

The new PoP, which is aimed to provide enhanced communications links to Latin American service providers and content networks, appears to be the latest play by a Tier 1 global company to increase its presence in the high growth region of Latin America.

The companies believe the new infrastructure will enable global players to connect to Latin American, as well as helping smaller players to identify how to meet broadband growth demands.

São Paulo is the ideal location to establish our first global-IP network PoP in South America – it’s the epicenter of Latin America’s emerging marketplace with many opportunities for companies looking to increase their global footprint and drive the market forward,” said Michael Wheeler, VP of NTT America’s Global-IP network division. “We look forward to working with NTT do Brasil to deepen our commitments to the region’s telecommunications industry by expanding network accessibility.”

By leveraging NTT Communications global-IP network, both NTT America and NTT do Brasil are increasingly strategising to connect ISPs, content providers, CDNs and enterprise businesses around the world with a significant presence in Latin America.

Yukio Adachi, president of NTT do Brasil added: “The Latin American telecommunications sector is quickly becoming a crucial part of the worldwide market so it’s an optimum time for NTT and NTT do Brasil to leverage the NTT communication’s global-IP network. Together, through the deployment of this Point of Presence, we’re directly enabling the continued growth of the Latin American markets.”
