Sparkle announces Zajil PoP launch and Movicel Angola SMS Booster deal

Sparkle, the international wholesale arm of TIM group, has been selected by Movicel Angola for its SMS network protection and revenue maximisation services.

Movicel Angola already deploys voice interconnection and other mobile data services from Sparkle, but SMS Booster offers an all-in-one solution allowing the mobile operator to take control of SMS incoming traffic.

It can detect and block messages delivered via unauthorised organisations, which turns into revenue leakage.

Sparkle said it will help boost Movicel Angola’s revenues by collecting SMS traffic from its wide customer base of SMS providers, OTT players and enterprises.

The news comes as Sparkle also announced that Kuwaiti ICT service provider Zajil has opened a new point of presence (PoP) at the Italian carrier’s Sicily Hub in Palermo.

The PoP will give Zajil the ability to offer both its enterprise and wholesale customers with best performing connectivity to North Africa and Europe.

Zajil’s customers include banking, finance and media organisations, and these will have access to improve latency and application performances from their headquarters in the Middle East and Europe.

Sparkle’s Sicily Hub acts as a crossway for most international subsea cable systems which connect Asia and the Middle East to Europe.
