The co-operation aims to combine PCCW Global’s international connectivity with Tinet’s expertise in Ethernet services. The subsidiary of the Hong Kong telco PCCW has a global network covering more than 1,500 cities and 110 countries, while Tinet, which was acquired by the Ethernet exchange operator Neutral Tandem last year, specialises in the IP and Ethernet wholesale markets.
PCCW Global's CEO Marc Halbfinger identified Tinet as owning “one of the most sophisticated Ethernet networks in Europe”.
“This collaboration will further enhance our Ethernet service coverage and add to our extensive portfolio of integrated global communications solutions,” he added.
Tinet's CEO Paolo Susnik also noted that the move will enable the company to expand its “EtherCloud service globally into various Ethernet-lit locations in Asia, further enhancing Ethernet adoption at a global level”.
Tinet launched its EtherCloud service in April, which is designed to provide end-to-end international Ethernet and VPLS connectivity (click here).
PCCW Global’s Marc Halbfinger will be featured in The Big Interview for the July/August edition of Capacity magazine.
