Since 2010 internet usage has grown exponentially in Colombia, from 2.2 million to 9.9 million in 2017. Simultaneously, in the last few years there has been a major increase in the number of submarine cables, from 5 to 9 covering both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts. Additionally, the number of households with internet access has grown nationwide from 17 percent to 50 percent.
