HGC names new chief information officer

HGC Global Communications has appointed Eli Ngai as its new chief information officer (CIO), effective immediately.
With a focus on digitalisation, HGC said Ngai will lead on its development of digital capabilities and infrastructure, so it can "continue to expand and enhance its fully-fledged ICT and telecom services for operators and enterprises in Hong Kong and around the world".
CEO Andrew Kwok said: “As the world enters a new era of digitalisation, HGC will continue to expand our digital capabilities, riding on our full-fledged digital infrastructure, to help our business thrive and to ensure that our customers can benefit from the best that modern ICT can offer. Combining expertise in new technologies with extensive experience in software and systems and a customer-centric approach, Eli is the ideal leader to spearhead our efforts and foster our agility.”

This year, HGC has capitalised on digitalisation, ICT's growing focus on Asia and its data centre operations. Highlights have included extending the Eyeball-as-a-Service (EaaS) solution to the Philippines, following the initial launch in Singapore; launching its Trio-service suite for the Singapore market; and its Macroview unit launching an enterprise security service with Deloitte.
Meanwhile, HGC's owner, I Squared Capital (ISQ), has completed its acquisition of GTT's infrastructure division; acquired Mexico's data centre operator, KIO Networks; and ploughed $500 million into renewable energy in Europe.

Ngai specialises in software development, enterprise networking, information security and data centre virtualisation and orchestration. He joined HGC in 2019 when it acquired Macroview Telecom, where he worked for 27 years, most recently as CIO.
