American Tower has launched its Data Center Channel Partner Program, to expand its market reach for its colocation and carrier-neutral data centres.

The new programme offers channel partners exclusive access to American Tower metro and edge data centres for a distributed network architecture, that supports “improved network elasticity” and provides infrastructure “ready for 5G and advanced applications”, said American Tower.

“Our Channel Partner Program is designed to best support enterprise customers with experienced and committed channel partners, providing the expertise and solutions that enable new business opportunities,” said David Fox, director of business development at American Tower.

Fox said: “To fully realise the potential of 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), enterprises must move data processing closer to the edge, where the data is generated and consumed. Our programme and data centres are well-positioned to help enterprises usher in the next generation of technological advances.”

American Tower began offering data centre services in 2019, beginning with one metro data centre in Atlanta. Six additional edge facilities were added in Atlanta, Austin, Boulder, Denver, Jacksonville and Pittsburgh.

“Leveraging existing real estate at the base of the towers, additional sites can develop quickly and at scale, based on market needs,” said the firm.

“The American Tower Channel Partner Program provides value, solutions and new revenue stream opportunities,” said Janet Schijns, chief executive officer at channel development firm JS Group. “We are leading the launch and execution of the programme.”
