Microsoft and Nokia have partnered with the South Australian Government to innovate with space technology, AI and 5G telecoms to bring digital solutions to industry.

Government premier Steven Marshall said: “This partnership between Microsoft and Nokia further cements our state’s standing within the global space industry.

“We welcome both companies to Adelaide and look forward to working with them to build an even stronger space sector in South Australia and create many local jobs.”

Microsoft’s Lynn McDonald, a former US Air Force colonel and lead of Azure Space in Australia, said: “This important collaboration will allow Australian organisations in multiple sectors to take a giant leap forward into a new era of communications and cloud computing, making the most of space data and technology and catapulting them to the very forefront of digital innovation.”

Anna Wills, managing director of Australia and New Zealand at Nokia, added: “By combining our 5G for industry capabilities with Microsoft’s space and computing technology, we can deliver solutions that promise deep and lasting impact for Australian industries in productivity, efficiency and safety.”

The collaboration is taking place at the Lot Fourteen innovation precinct in Adelaide.
