Skylo, Inmarsat partner on world first commercial NB-IoT over satellite

Skylo and Inmarsat are rolling out the world’s first commercial narrowband IoT solution over satellite.

It has already launched in India through a partnership with in state-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and expansion plans will be announced later this year.

“Skylo makes simple, reliable IoT connectivity available to everyone at disruptively affordable rates,” commented Parth Trivedi, the CEO and co-founder of Skylo, a satellite-based narrow-band (NB) IoT solution company.

Satellite IoT connectivity enables real-time data transmission, as well as reliable and more cost-effective connectivity, particularly where there is inconsistent or no cellular coverage. It means the solution will be able to provide remotely located application users with real-time actionable insights.
