Globe has appointed Issa Guevarra-Cabreira as its new chief commercial officer (CCO), the first woman to hold this role in the company’s history.

Announced during the company’s Annual Stockholders Meeting, Guevarra-Cabreira (pictured) succeeds Albert de Larrazabal, who has been promoted to chief finance officer at Ayala Corporation.

“Issa’s experience and deep knowledge of the industry equips her with the ability to steer the team effectively towards the achievement of Globe's goals,” said Ernest Cu, president and CEO at Globe.

Guevarra-Cabreira enters the role with 25-years’ experience in brand marketing and mobile telecoms business and will lead the commercial business unit at Globe.

Prior to her appointment, Guevarra-Cabreira held various leadership roles within Globe, most recently she served as head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business, where she was credited for taking TM mobile to the top of the subscriber count.

Before this, Guevarra-Cabreira also served as managing partner at 917Ventures, a corporate incubator in the country and subsidiary of Globe Group.

“I am humbled, honoured and excited to take on this role. At the heart of what we do are our customers,” said Issa Guevarra-Cabreira, chief commercial officer at Globe.

“We want to provide them with products and services that not only enhance their overall connectivity experience, but more importantly uplift and enrich their lives.”

At the time of the appointment Globe also confirmed that it has exceeded its network builds and modernization targets in the first quarter of 2021. Despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Globe built 318 new cell sites, a 152% jump from 126 sites built in the same period last year.

In addition, Globe also installed over 287,000 high-speed lines reflecting a 212% increase year on year, while 4G LTE and 5G builds also reached 7,065 sites in the first quarter of 2021 up by 245% year on year.

Looking ahead, Globe is allotting P70 billion ($1.4 billion) this year to upgrade, improve and expand its network driven by strong demand for connectivity and pandemic. This includes an “aggressive rollout of fibre-to-the-home” and to expand its 5G footprint.

“Armed with our purpose, Globe is resolutely marching forward, staying attuned to the new customer and reinventing their experience to make us more relevant,” added Cu.

“Together with all our stakeholders, we are one with the nation on working towards our country's economic recovery in the days ahead.”
