WIOCC has appointed Mwesu Vunda has as its country sales manager for Zambia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Prior to joining WIOCC, Vunda served as sales director at GlobalTel Zambia. He has also held enterprise roles with Liquid Telecom and Vodafone Zambia.
In this newly-created role, Vunda will support service providers in their use of the improvements made to the WIOCC’s international connectivity services, delivered through the company’s hyperscale network infrastructure, enabling them to provide enhanced connectivity solutions to their enterprise and consumer customers in Zambia, DRC and other neighbouring countries.
The creation of Vunda’s role comes as the Covid-19 pandemic has seen businesses become more reliant on high-quality connectivity to operate efficiently. This is also the case for individuals, who increasingly regard fast, reliable, high-capacity connectivity as mission critical in order to support their remote working, social networking and online entertainment.
As such, Vunda will work closely with cloud operators, content providers, local and regional Internet service providers and fixed and mobile telcos, to tailor solutions in order to meet their customers’ increased bandwidth and uptime expectations.
In related news, last month the WIOCC Network Operation Centre (NOC) reported interruption to a large number of client services between Djibouti and Marseille, France on the SEA-ME-WE 5 subsea cable.
