Seattle-based Sabey Data Centers has appointed John Sasser as its first chief technology officer (CTO).

Sasser has worked for Sabey for 18 years, spending four of those years in the role of SVP of operations and the 14 years prior in the roles of VP operations and operations manager, responsible for Sabey’s nationwide data centre operations.

Effective as of this month, Sasser's new role will see him head Sabey’s portfolio of data centre operations, new data centre delivery, sustainability and information security.

He said: "My goals are to continue to innovate in efficiency and sustainability, while always maintaining reliable data centre operations for our customers.”

Company president, Robert Rockwood, added: "Sabey Data Centers is committed to delivering efficient, reliable, and scalable inventory. To meet these rigorous demands over the years, we have turned to a demonstrated leader in data centre design and operation, our own John Sasser.

“John's promotion to CTO recognises his 18 years of exceptional service and limitless potential. John has distinguished himself as a creative thinker, a disciplined planner, and an inspiring leader," Rockwood continued.

In mid-2020, Sabey partnered with Megaport to bring bring direct on-demand cloud connectivity to customers in Sabey's flagship Intergate.Seattle data centre and Intergate.Quincy’s three building data centre campus in central Washington.

In addition to supporting hybrid cloud, multi–cloud, and cloud-to-cloud architectures via point-and-click provisioning with the intelligent Megaport Cloud Router Performance, the partnership allowed Sabey to localise applications and terminate traffic closer to the edge.

With a portfolio of more than three million square feet of mission critical space, Sabey Data Centers says it is one of the largest privately owned multi-tenant data centre owner/ developer/ operators in the United States.

It specialises in scalable, custom-built solutions including data centre ready shell space and fully turnkey facilities, and utilises low-cost hydroelectric power.
