Angola Cables launches two PoPs in Brazil

Angola Cables has established two additional points of presence (PoPs) in Brazil to boost connectivity in Latin America.

The two PoPs (SP2 and SP4) have been established in São Paulo bringing the company’s total in the region to three as it joins the existing SP3 PoP.

With SP2 and SP4 joining with São Paulo SP3, we are able to add more access points to our distribution footprint, giving us a wider market coverage, better content aggregation – at lower latencies,’’ said António Nunes, CEO of Angola Cables.

The new infrastructure will access the NAP of the Americas and Miami, over Equinix MI1 and MI3, that will provide greater access for digital business exchange between businesses in the region to engage with other networks and offer better access to cloud-based services.

In addition, the company has expanded into the Brazilian Silicon Valley and is working on its sixth PoP in the region with a presence in the industrial and economic hub of Porto Alegre. The new Porto Alegre PoP will serve as an important node for information and content exchange as well as to provide network access, capacity and reach to meet the growing demand of digital businesses.

‘’Through our points of presence infrastructure and our sophisticated undersea cable network, we can deliver low latency performance, secure services and access to a range of connectivity solutions to support companies and business entities operating either locally or seeking to extend their business footprint across border or continents,” said Nunes.

Nunes believes that the growth is as a result of the company’s Brazilian Growth Roadmap Strategy, which aims to better meet customer demands, improve its market coverage and improve service resilience by adding more source points to its distribution.

In turn, the PoP in Porto Alegre aligns itself with Nunes’ belief that the South region had a demand for better network presence and presented an opportunity to deliver content more closely to the market.

Together he maintains that the addition of these new PoPs in Latin America along with the company’s existing PoPs in Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza will create economic benefits as well as opportunities for Angola Cables to deliver new services to the region.

At the start of the year Angola Cables entered into a MoU with CTM to deliver new digital business opportunities between Macau, Mainland China, African Portuguese-speaking countries and Brazil.
