RTI chose Equinix IBX data centres due to the company’s experience managing cable landing stations as well as because of its dense, rich ecosystems of networks, cloud and financial & IT service providers. Additionally, Equinix offers a neutral landing point for subsea cable operators, reducing their costs and time to deploy by simplifying operations.

RTI is due to complete construction of its two high-fibre capacity cables that will land in Guam. At present there are two Equinix termination points live, they are the JGA South with termination into Equinix SY4 IBX in Sydney with a branch to Australia’s Sunshine Coast. Then there is the JGA North connecting Tokyo and Guam with termination into Equinix TY2 UBX in Tokyo.

Hyperscale cloud providers and enterprise companies are driving data growth between the Asia-Pacific and Australia. As a result, these customers require alternative paths, improved quality of service and cost-effective bandwidth solutions.
