Colt Technology Services has announced that its Dedicated Cloud Access (DCA) service now supports connectivity towards Alibaba Cloud.

Colt’s DCA delivers secure and reliable private network connectivity to cloud service providers, making the addition of Alibaba Cloud, the intelligence backbone division of the Alibaba Group in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, key to its users as the biggest public cloud provider in APAC and top three in the world.

“We are honoured to announce that we are able to provide direct connectivity to Alibaba Cloud,” said Kenji Hioki (pictured), Colt’s president and regional executive for Asia. “We recognise the importance of global expansion, particularly to China, for international enterprises. By providing direct connectivity to an innovative, global cloud provider like Alibaba Cloud, we can further support our customers’ business expansion and partner with them in their cloud based digital transformation strategies.”

Leveraging Colt’s DCA users gain private network connectivity between enterprise data centres or office locations and the cloud service providers. Additionally, customers can reduce their network costs, increase bandwidth throughput, and have a more consistent network experience than Internet-based connections.

Conversely, Alibaba Cloud offers a range of services such ICP support, network stability, protection against cyber-attacks, as well as the ability to support international businesses as they expand into China.

“We’re very pleased to work with Colt as our NSP partner. Alibaba Cloud has built up over 13 regions in Asia and partnering with a dependable cloud connectivity service provider like Colt is key to our success. We are looking forward to seeing further digital transformations realised by our collaboration,” added Leo Liu, general manager of Alibaba Cloud Hong Kong, Macau and Korea.

Last month, Colt launched its business Internet offering, IP Access, on its SDN-enabled On Demand platform. The IP Access On Demand offering enables enterprises to benefit from high bandwidth, as well as agile Internet connectivity that can be provisioned in near-real-time.
