The winners of the 2019 Global Carrier Awards are announced!

Hosted by Capacity Media CEO Rosalind Irving and Capacity Editor-in-Chief and head judge for the GCAs Jason McGee-Abe, at the indigo at The O2, the black-tie gala dinner was truly a night of celebration and distinction.

Sparkle came out on top as one of the winners of the night taking home two Awards, the first for Best European Project and the second for Best Social Media Campaign.

The Award for Best Middle Eastern Project went to Omantel, to PCCW Global for Best Asian Project, while GlobeNet won the Award for Best Americas Project. RETN took home the Award for Project of the Year – Terrestrial and EllaLink won the trophy for Project of the Year – Subsea.

In the Best Data Centre & Internet Exchange category the Best Internet Exchange Innovation went to datamena and Best Data Centre Innovation was won by Iron Mountain Data Centers. Equinix took home the Award for Best Data Centre and DE-CIX for Best Internet Exchange.

Deutsche Telekom Global Carrier took home three prizes, one for Best Marketing Campaign, another Best IoT Initiative and one more for Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier.

iBasis was the winner of the Best Marketing Team as well as the Best SMS Innovation Awards. Turk Telekom International brought it home for the Best Wholesale Sales Team Award and Orange International Carriers for Best Anti-Fraud Innovation.

New for 2019, PCCW Global was the recipient of the Best CSR Award, presented by Télécoms Sans Frontières, the company also took home the trophy for Best Network Technology Innovation. Another new entrant for 2019 was the CEO of Year Award, which was won by Ufinet as their CEO Iñigo García del Cerro.

In the Best Technology Deployment category AT&T / Colt Technology Services came out on top for the Best SDN/NFV Deployment Award, Neutrona Networks won it for Best OSS/BSS Deployment and China Unicom Global for Best 5G deployment.

The biggest category of the night was undoubtedly the innovation category with an astounding 18 Awards to be won. Best Blockchain Innovation went to TOMIA, Best Cloud Innovation to Colt Technology Services. In addition, Best Data Service Innovation - Emerging Market was won by Reliance Jio, Best Data Service Innovation - Mature Market went to EdgeConneX, Best Enterprise Partnership to Global Cloud Xchange (GCX), Best IPX Service to Etisalat and Neutrona Networks for Best OTT Partnership.

Other winners in this category include Airtel Business for Best Security Solution, TELIN for Best Strategic Subsea Route, China Unicom Global for Best Subsea Innovation, Epsilon / Dialogic Corporation for Best Unified Communications Innovation, as well as Airtel Business for Best Voice Service Innovation - Emerging Market, Voxbone for Best Voice Service Innovation - Mature Market and GOLD DATA for Wholesale Innovation Disruptor of the Year.

In the regional carrier space OTEGLOBE won the trophy for Best Eastern European/CIS Wholesale Carrier, Liquid Telecom for Best African Wholesale Carrier and Saudi Telecom Company for Best Middle Eastern Wholesale Carrier. Additionally, China Unicom Global won it for Best Asian Wholesale Carrier, C&W Networks for Best Caribbean Wholesale Carrier, Telefónica for Best Latin American Wholesale Carrier and NTT for Best North American Wholesale Carrier.

Last but certainly not least, the winner of the Best Global Wholesale Carrier – Voice was Airtel Business, while Orange International Carriers came out on top as the winner of Best Global Wholesale Carrier – Data.
