Newtec Dialog transforms Telemedia’s outside broadcast capabilities

Newtec has delivered a Newtec Dialog hub system to enhance the live broadcast capabilities of Telemedia, a media broadcast company based in South Africa.

The Newtec Dialog hub will enable Telemedia to offer a data service in addition to video broadcasting services using its fleet of Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks.

“The Newtec Dialog hub has enabled us to develop a comprehensive and flexible IP solution that complements our broadcast services,” said Steve Bretherick, technical director at Telemedia. “This solution will allow us to provide the same service over and over again at every location, without installation costs. The hub has also enabled us to provide a backup restoration system for the Satellite News Gathering (SNG) part of the business.”

Newtec Dialog is a single-service and multiservice VSAT platform that allows operators and service providers to build and adapt their infrastructure and satellite networking according to business or missions at hand. It offers flexibility, scalability and efficiency to the operator and enables them to offer a variety of services on a single platform.

“We are pleased to have been able to offer a flexible solution that allows Telemedia to reduce its overall cost and at the same time increase its service offering portfolio,” added Pieter-Paul Mooijman, regional sales director, Africa, at Newtec. “At a time when broadcasting is becoming ever more sophisticated, Newtec Dialog provides a flexible solution that is reliable – and this is what every broadcaster is looking for today.”

Back in March, Newtec deployed two Dialog hubs in the UK and Finland for Middle East satellite operator Arabsat. The successful deployments enable the company to deliver high throughput satellite (HTS) services into the Middle East and African markets. Additionally, the contract, that will enable Arabsat to deliver a new suite of services including enterprise and VNO services, IP trunking and mobile backhaul for 3G and 4G services, was signed in September last year and the first hub was installed in December 2018.
