Digital Realty has achieved the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Service Delivery designation for AWS Direct Connect.

The data centre investor, which supports 2,300 firms across five continents, has authorisation for providing new AWS Direct Connect Hosted Connections capacities greater than 500 Mbps.

Digital Realty CTO Chris Sharp said: "[The status] reflects our track record and expertise in delivering AWS services to our global customer base.

"Our team is committed to continue empowering our customers with access to scalable, flexible and cost-effective solutions, such as AWS and via our own Digital Realty Service Exchange, to address their business needs."

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from start-ups to global enterprises.

To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Service Delivery Program to help customers identify APN Partners with deep expertise in delivering specific AWS services.

Amazon announced this month that it would launch a new, managed service using blockchain.
