FirstLight, a provider of fibre-optic data, Internet, data centre, cloud and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast, has named Len Camara as its new chief information officer (CIO).

In his new role, Camara will serve as a member of the FirstLight senior executive team and will oversee the advancement of the company's information systems and information technology functions.

"Len joins FirstLight at a time when data analytics, network security and enhancing our systems and IT platforms are critical to the continued enhancement of the customer experience,” said Kurt Van Wagenen, president and chief executive officer at FirstLight. “Len successfully led IT teams over the course of his career, and we are confident that his impressive leadership skills and experience will prove invaluable to the company as we enter the next stage of growth."

Camara brings over 20 years of experience leading IT teams implementing systems, processes and capabilities, which ensure the security of digital assets, drive operating efficiencies and enable effective data mining, all focused on improving the customer experience and maintaining the integrity of systems and IT platforms. Before his appointment at FirstLight, Camara held a number of senior management positions, including most recently as the chief information officer for Energy Federation where he oversaw the digital transformation of the organisation, as well as senior IT roles at Bright Horizons, TNCI, Polaroid and GTE Internetworking.

"I am delighted to join the FirstLight team," commented Camara. "I look forward to being a part of a dynamic, growing organization and implementing strategies that will further leverage our IT infrastructure to help propel FirstLight's continued growth."

At the start of the year, FirstLight unveiled the latest addition to its comprehensive portfolio of fibre-based services: Managed Edge.

Managed Edge enhances the company’s fibre-based communications services by offering customers a single solution for connectivity coupled with fully managed devices for a complete end-to-end solution.
