GTT Communications has named Robert Westervelt as its new senior vice president for channel sales in the Americas region.

Westervelt has been with GTT since 2017, previously serving as vice president for channel sales for the East. His new role will see him lead GTT’s indirect sales operation across the Americas, looking after its partner-programme initiatives and strategies.

He is an industry veteran of more than 25 years, having previously worked for the likes of NTT America, where he was VP and general manager of global solutions, Broadview Networks, and XO Communications.

“Rob’s appointment to lead channel sales demonstrates GTT’s commitment to expand the indirect channel as a vital component of our organic growth strategy,” stated Eric Warren, GTT division president for the Americas.

“We offer our channel partners a comprehensive portfolio of cloud networking services delivered across our Tier 1 IP network, which are complemented by dedicated sales and marketing resources, a single business support system and a simplified commission plan. The combination of these capabilities, resources and commercial model distinguishes GTT as a service provider partner in today’s consolidating market landscape, and we are excited to continue to grow our indirect channel under Robert Westervelt’s stewardship.”

GTT has been one of the most acquisitive companies in the sector over recent years, making six acquisitions in the 12 months up to October, CMO Gina Nomellini told Capacity in a recent interview, including its purchase of US communications services provider Access Point for $40 million, deepening its enterprise and channel offering.
