The i3forum has expanded its networking expertise with the addition of Netaxis Solutions as a new member.

The systems integrator and software developer in IP communications has become a full member of the i3forum.

“In today’s market, collaboration is essential. The carrier ecosystem is becoming increasingly interconnected and being part of the i3forum means we can actively participate and work together to shape our industry. We see membership as a natural extension of our business and an opportunity to share experiences and learn,” said Jean-Michel Hardy, COO at Netaxis Solutions.

“The i3forum is a unique organisation with a critical mass of carrier members, making it possible to really change our industry. We look forward to contributing to solutions that benefit the entire carrier community.”

Netaxis Solutions has joined the ranks of the not-for-profit industry body, focused on transformation in carrier business, to collaborate with global carriers to better shape the future of the ecosystem as it tackles the biggest challenges in global networking.

“We are excited to have Netaxis Solutions join the i3forum and bring its unique perspective and experience to our workgroups. The i3forum and the entire carrier community will benefit from fresh insights into IP communications and the challenges we face as an industry,” added Philippe Millet, chairman of i3forum.

“This is another great milestone for i3forum. We have seen tremendous momentum in 2018. As we add new members, we are expanding our scope and are able to address carrier challenges in new ways.”

The i3forum is working with its new members to drive transformation in carrier business by enabling new initiatives like blockchain. Some of the new initiatives it plans for 2019 include building a global database of telecoms traffic bringing a number of benefits to both members and non-members of i3forum.

It is also hoping to create a global numbering database in a further effort to prevent fraud in telecoms. Christian Michaud, vice chair of the i3forum, said that the organisation is identifying five or six potential companies to carry out the research and wants to select a vendor in early 2019.

The ITW Global Leaders’ Forum (GLF) has been working closely with the i3forum and the Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) and recently published a report, entitled Taking Action Against Fraud, estimating the annual cost for fraudulent traffic is $17 billion.

The report also presents a framework for how international carriers may wish to take further action by moving beyond purely signing the Code of Conduct, which was launched at Capacity Middle East in March 2018 and had 18 carriers signed up come May.

“I am confident that this report will serve as a call to action to global carriers to accelerate their own activities to reduce fraud,” said Marc Halbfinger, CEO of PCCW Global and chair of the GLF.
