NTT Com names new senior executive vice president

NTT Communications (NTT Com) has named Toru Maruoka as its new senior executive vice president.

NTT Communications (NTT Com) has named Toru Maruoka as its new senior executive vice president.

In his new role Maruoka will be 'in charge of’ sales, corporate, the 2020 project and the company’s digital transformation.

Marouka has been promoted from a similar position as senior executive vice president where he was responsible for technology, services, operations and information security.

In addition to the news the NTT announced the appointments of a number of chief digital officers (CDO) across the entire company.

Over at NTT Corp, president and CEO, Jun Sawada appointed Motoyuki Li, senior executive vice president and representative member of the board as the division’s new CDO.

"Innovation in digital technologies is creating a certain trend of digital disruption overturning existing industries, said Li. "Moreover, we face such social issues as aging population with a declining birthrate and shrinkage in the labor force in Japan. In this market situation, additionally with our group-wide challenges such as introduction of 5G and PSTN migration, the CDOs will formulate digital strategies and promote them, enabling our group to be more flexible and agile in accordance with drastically changing business environment,"

At NTT East Corp, president and CEO, Fukuzo Inoue appointed Naoki Shibutani, senior executive vice president and representative director; at NTT West Crop, president and CEO, Mitsuyoshi Kobayashi named Shozo Ito, senior executive vice president and representative director; at NTT Com, president and CEO, Tetsuya Shoji named Marukoa in this role; and at NTT DOCOMO, president and CEO, Kazuhiro Yoshizawa appointed Hiroyasu Asami, senior executive vice president and representative member of the board of directors the new CDO
