Globalinx Virginia data centre nears Phase I completion

Globalinx Data Centers says it is 4 months away from completing phase I of its 10,750 square-foot data centre in Virginia Beach.

Announced back in January, the new facility will be located at on 11.5 acres of privately owned land situated 17 feet above sea level, in close proximity to Telxius’ cable landing station in Virginia Beach.

Once completed the new facility will be equipped with high-capacity space for network carriers, submarine cable operators, enterprises, and hyperscale provider to collocate their networking equipment in a secure location and interconnect in the buildings (999sq m) MMR.

The interconnection through the new data centre will allow customers to have direct access to various terrestrial networks and subsea cable systems. The facility also offers more than 30MWs of scalable critical power provided by Dominion Energy’s two independent substations.

In addition, the site will offer direct access to MAREA and BRUSA subsea cables which is located less than 600 metres away from the Telxius cable landing station. Globalinx is in the process of constructing diverse parallel conduits the length of the site into both point of entries which will be owned and managed by Globalinx.

The company has already started work on the Phase II 25,000 square foot subsea cable landing station and the Phase III 150,000 square feet of colocation and data centre space.
