Flexenclosure to deploy two new eCentres in Latin America

Flexenclosure is expanding its Latin American footprint with the launch of two new eCentre data centres in Nicaragua and Honduras.

The news follows recent eCentre deployments by Flexenclosure, a provider of pre-fabricated data centres, in Paraguay, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Ecuador. The most recent Ecuadorian deployment was for CenturyLink announced only last month. The 300KW data centre, located in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, will be used by CenturyLink to offer colocation hosting, cloud computing, security, collaboration, communication and managed services to both national and international clients.

The first of the two new orders will be built in Nicaragua’s capital Managua with construction already started at Flexenclosure’s manufacturing facility in Sweden. Final deployment of the new eCentre is expected to happen in Nicaragua by Q3 of this year.

As for the second data centre, this will be located in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa which is due to be fully commissioned by the end of Q1 2019.

“In the last two years, we have gone from having no presence at all in Latin America to building data centres in seven countries across the continent,” said David King, CEO, Flexenclosure. “We are fully committed to the region and our eCentre facilities have proven to be the ideal solution for the LATAM market.”

Both new facilities will be Uptime Institute Tier III certified, what Flexenclosure is calling a first of its kind in both countries. In addition both sites will have the ability to be easily scaled according to needs and with both locations being known for their increased risk of earthquakes, they have been custom designed and robustly reinforced to withstand seismic disturbance.

eCentre designs its facilities so that they are fast to deploy, energy efficient, fully future proofed and certified up to Tier IV level. To date the company has deployed its eCentres in 24 markets.

In April, Flexenclosure expanded its presence in Southeast Asia by launching a new eCentre data centre in partnership with Globe Telecom. In 2017 the company secured a €10 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help in its research and development activities whilst also helping to drive its growth strategy. Also the company was chosen in 2016 by IHS Towers to build 1,000 energy efficient hybrid power systems to power IHS’s Nigerian mobile telecom towers.
